✨ Reflection - Honest Measures before YHVH

“You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measuring length, weight, or quantity. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin. I am YHVH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.”
- Leviticus 19:35-36

YHVH’s Torah teaches that integrity is not confined to the synagogue or prayer - it extends to every transaction, every word, and every action. When He commands honest measures, He is not only speaking about weights and scales - He is revealing His nature of justice and truth. Dishonest scales are an abomination because they distort truth.

In the days of ancient Israel, false weights robbed people of fair exchange. Today, falsifying “measures” may appear as cutting corners, wasting time, deceiving others for profit, or even being dishonest in self-representation. The heart that practices deceit in small things cannot remain pure in great things.

The righteous heart is a balanced heart - not leaning toward greed, pride, or deceit, but standing in fairness before YHVH and man.

🩵 Mitzvot and Application

This mitzvah teaches that YHVH expects His people to maintain complete honesty in all dealings. Whether in business, ministry, or daily relationships, our words and actions must reflect the divine standard of justice. False measures destroy trust, while truthful balances uphold the covenant of holiness between us and YHVH.

A believer must constantly examine their “spiritual scales.” Are we giving fair measure in how we treat others? Are our motives pure, our speech true, and our promises reliable? Just as the kohanim ensured that the Temple weights were accurate, so must we ensure our hearts are weighed correctly before YHVH.

When we keep our measures just, we become a testimony of His righteousness - a light in a world of deception.

🙌 Prayer

Abba YHVH, we come before You with hearts seeking truth and purity. Teach us to walk in integrity in every matter, whether seen or unseen. Help us to maintain honest balances in all areas of our lives - in business, in ministry, and in relationships. Let the Ru'ach HaQodesh guide us to discern between deceit and righteousness.

Cleanse us from every hidden motive that corrupts our measure of justice. May our actions reflect Your truth, and our words be weighed with grace and fairness. Establish in us a steadfast spirit, that we may serve You in purity of heart and integrity of conduct.

Baruch YHVH.
